Taking baby steps

Biography

I'm a strong believer in agile development and software craftsmanship. The basis of both of these mindsets is continuous learning. Therefor I spend my time learning new things and helping other people in their learning paths. If you want to know more about me: http://about.me/talboomerik

Description

How often do you commit to source control? Do you also have the feeling that you want to do too much? Do you split up your commits enough? Do you really take the smallest step possible before committing? We human beings are not that disciplined in general. This session will help you keep that discipline and will also show you that you are not taking the smallest step possible. If you want to know more about this session idea: http://talboomerik.be/2012/01/16/taking-baby-steps/

Prerequisites

Local source control system like git or mercurial installed, running and enough familiarity with it to be able to commit and revert code changes fast. Everyone needs to bring their own development machine with their favorite IDE installed.

Benefits for the attendees

Realization that they are not taking the smallest steps possible will trigger a new way of thinking about driving your code on a day to day basis.
